These numbers could exceed the country’s total electricity needs several times over.

Although offshore wind is still in its early stages, interest is growing. Investors see the chance to tap into this vast resource. For example, Hexicon AB and Genesis Eco-Energy Developments plan an 800MW offshore wind farm off the coast of Richards Bay. This project marks an important step in expanding South Africa’s renewable energy capacity.
